AEPC: Mithileshwar Thakur becomes Secretary General of Apparel Export Promotion Council

New Delhi: Mithileshwar Thakur, a former Indian Trade Service officer, has been appointed as the Secretary General of the Apparel Export Promotion Council (AEPC). He is a 1989 batch civil services officer. He has experience of working in various companies including Government of India and Tata Group. Before passing the Civil Services Exam, he was an officer of the Indian Railway Engineering Services. He has also worked as an Engineer in Tata Steel/ Tata Motors/ NTPC.


Prior to becoming the General Secretary in AEPC, Thakur held the responsibility of Additional Director General in the Ministry of Commerce and Industry, Government of India. At that time, he was responsible for implementing India’s Foreign Trade Policy.


On his new role, Thakur said his mantra is growth of the Indian textile and apparel sector. For this, he will focus on investment, innovation and value chain in this sector.
