Air India News: Air India pilots reached Ratan Tata’s shelter over salary dispute.
New Delhi: Air India pilots have submitted an online application to Ratan Naval Tata, Chairman Emeritus of Tata Sons Limited. It has been said that the morale of the pilots of the company has fallen. This is because the Human Resources (HR) department of the airline is not treating them with respect. Stating that he takes immense pride in his work and his role in representing the Tata Group and India on the global stage, Pilots said: Due to the attitude of the HR department, we are facing a difficult situation at the moment. We feel that we are not being treated with the respect and dignity we deserve as Air India employees.
“This is the reason why our morale is low and we are concerned that this will negatively impact our ability to perform our duties to the best of our abilities,” he said in the application. A copy of the application is with IANS. The pilots also said that they understand the challenges faced by the airline and are committed to working with the company to find complex solutions that will benefit all stakeholders.
However, we feel that our concerns are not being addressed by the HR team, the application said. So we are respectfully requesting you to assist us in resolving these issues. If this issue was not so important, we would not bother you. But we believe that your generous leadership as Chairman Emeritus of Air India can help us find a solution that is fair and respectful to all parties.
Earlier, two pilot bodies – Indian Commercial Pilots Association (ICPA) and Indian Pilots Guild (IPG) – Tata Group Chairman N. Chandrasekaran seeking his intervention as Air India’s HR policy is driven by a lack of trust.
A joint letter by the Indian Commercial Pilots Association (ICPA) and the Indian Pilots Guild (IPG) said Tata has always upheld its principles of fairness and ethical values. However, the HR department’s actions regarding the pilots are completely contrary to these values. Pilots are being treated unfairly. It is flouting the existing laws and regulations to protect the rights of the employees. Pilots are being subjected to a hostile work environment.
