New app to compete with Swiggy-Zomato: Sunil Shetty launches food delivery app ‘Waayu’, service will start in many cities soon.
Bollywood actor and investor Suniel Shetty on Tuesday (May 9) launched a new food delivery app ‘Vaayu’ (Waayu) to compete with Swiggy and Zomato. This food delivery app aims to offer restaurants with a zero commission platform.
The services of ‘Vayu’ app have just started in Mumbai only.
Anirudh Kotgire and Mandar Lande of Destec Horeca are the founders of the ‘Vayu’ app. The ‘Vayu’ app will help hotels and restaurants log orders for food delivery without any commission. Right now the services of this app have started only in Mumbai.
Several hotels and restaurants in Mumbai have been onboarded on the app. Which includes many restaurants including Mahesh Lunch Home, Bhagat Tarachand, Banana Leaf, Shiv Sagar, Guru Kripa, Kirti Mahal, Farsi Darbar and Ladoo Samrat.
Now this app has more than 25,000 downloaders
Vayu is supported by AHAR, the Indian Hotel and Restaurant Association of Mumbai. The app is also onboarding restaurants from most parts of Mumbai BMC, Mira Bhayandar, Navi Mumbai, Thane, Pune, Palghar etc. Currently there are more than 1500 restaurants registered on this app and it has more than 25,000 downloaders.
The company will also start services in metro and non-metro cities.
The company is also planning to expand its services to other metro and non-metro cities. Sunil is the brand ambassador of this company. Not only this, he is also the investor of the company.
The app is charging a fixed fee of Rs 1,000 from all outlets
The app is currently charging Rs 1,000 per month as a fixed fee from all outlets. This fee can be increased to Rs 2,000 later. Not only this, this app is also planning to associate with Open Network for Digital Commerce (ONDC).
