The Ministry of Consumer Affairs has taken a big step to provide more convenience to the drug customers. Now all the information like making, expiry and batch will have to be given in details with every tablet on the leaflet of any medicine. Many times you have to buy some medicines at the drug store only because the shopkeeper cannot cut it and give it. His reasoning behind this is that no one will take the cut medicine or the information about manufacturing, expiry will not be clear. Many complaints have been received with the Ministry of Consumer Affairs regarding this, taking cognizance of them, various suggestions are being considered.
Expiry, batch information on each drug
The ministry issued a notification informing about this and put forward a proposal that now buying unnecessary quantity of medicines will be curbed. Not only this, instead of giving the details of making, expiry and batch on every leaf or strip of medicine, details like making, expiry and batch will be given on every tablet of the leaf.
Will buy medicine as needed
This will also reduce the burden on the pocket of common people. Because earlier drug dealers used to ask to buy the whole leaf, but now medicines can be given to the customers even after cutting the leaf. That means you will not need to buy the whole leaf and will be able to buy only as much medicine as is needed.
The ministry made these suggestions
- There should be arrangement on the strip for the required amount of medicine
- Industry advised to use Perforated packing
- With this, it will be easy to sell the required amount of medicine, it will facilitate the sale to the people.
- Advice to give all necessary information in QR code on every part, so that complete details can be available per tablet
- Discussion possible with industry, health ministry, DCGI and other stakeholders soon
- Although this may have a slight impact on the cost, but the convenience will increase
