Adani Power: This plant of Adani Power started production; 1496 MW power will be sold to Bangladesh.

A good news related to Gautam Adani-led Adani Power has come to the fore. Adani Power has started exporting power to Bangladesh from its 1600 MW plant located at Godda in Jharkhand. Adani Power also issued a statement regarding this.

In this, the company said that Adani Power Jharkhand Limited (APJL), a wholly owned subsidiary of Adani Power Limited, has commenced commercial operations of the second unit of its 2×800 MW Godda Ultra-Supercritical Thermal Power Plant.

According to the statement, the commercial operations trials and reliability trials of the second unit of the Godda power plant were completed on June 25. Officials of Bangladesh Power Development Board (BPDB) and Power Grid Corporation of Bangladesh (PGCB) were also present on the occasion. Let us tell you that on April 6, the first unit of the 800MW power plant had achieved its Commercial Operations Date (COD).

The power supply to Bangladesh from the Godda plant will further enhance energy security in the neighboring country, the statement said. Whereas, APJL will supply power with a net capacity of 1,496 MW from the 2×800 MW Godda USCTPP under a PPA with BPDB executed in November 2017 for a period of 25 years through a 400 kV dedicated transmission system connected to the Bangladesh grid.

It added that the electricity supplied from the Godda power plant will have a positive impact on Bangladesh’s electricity situation by replacing expensive electricity generated from liquid fuels. Through this, Bangladesh will be helped to reduce the average cost of purchased power.

The commissioning of the Godda USCTPP is an important milestone for Adani Group, BPDB as well as for economic co-relationships between the two countries, the statement said.

SB Khayaliya, CEO of Adani Power Limited also informed about this. He said that the Godda power plant would serve as a symbol of India-Bangladesh friendship. Also, this will mark the beginning of a new phase in the diverse and long-standing relations between the two countries.

Adani Power (APL) is a part of the Adani Group. It is the largest private thermal power producer in India. The company has a thermal power capacity of 15,210 MW spread across seven power plants in Gujarat, Maharashtra, Karnataka, Rajasthan, Chhattisgarh and Madhya Pradesh, apart from a 40 MW solar power plant in Gujarat.
