Aviation: Airports of the country will become hi-tech, Airport Authority of India has tied up with SITA.

The Airports Authority of India (AAI) has tied up with SITA (Société Internationale de Télécommunications Aéronautiques) to adopt cloud-based technology for passenger and baggage processing at 43 airports in the country. SITA is a leading provider of global information and telecommunication solutions services to the air transport industry.

The deal will see improvements across over 2,700 passenger touchpoints, paving the way for the adoption of new-age solutions to meet the expectations of modern travellers. Initially deployed at 43 airports, these technologies may reach an additional 40 airports over the next seven years.

During this period more than 500 million passengers will be served with the help of this facility. SITA President (Asia Pacific) Sumesh Patel said at a press conference, “Using this facility, airlines will see a reduction in service charges and they will be able to leverage an agile technology platform to create a better experience for passengers. Adoption of cloud solutions also provides the flexibility to efficiently scale airport operations as passenger volumes increase.
