Netflix’s big decision: Password sharing will stop in India, tracking will be done through IP address.
Video streaming platform Netflix has taken a big decision. Netflix has said that now password sharing will be banned for India as well. It has started from 20th July. Earlier, Netflix has taken such a decision in many countries including America.
The company is discontinuing password sharing amidst continuous losses. If you’re using the same Netflix account on multiple devices or sharing it with friends, you’ll get an email.
If multiple people are using the same account, then verification will be done through a code every seven days. Apart from this, the Wi-Fi network of the primary account will also have to be connected at least once in 31 days.
Simply put, Netflix wants its one account to be used by multiple people in the same household, not even friends and relatives. Its verification will be done by the company through IP address, device ID, network etc.
This decision of Netflix is sure to create a ruckus in India, but those who cannot live without it, will have to take a subscription. In such a situation, the active subscribers of the company will increase and the revenue will also increase. The starting price of the Netflix plan in India is Rs 149. The top plan costs Rs 649.
