Intel Layoffs: This chip maker announced layoffs, more than 125 employees affected

Chip maker Intel has once again announced massive layoffs in the US to cut costs. The company has eliminated 89 jobs at its Folsom campus and cut 51 jobs at its San Jose, California office, according to a report from Sacramento Inno. Earlier in May, the company had announced that it was planning to lay off employees to cut costs after facing losses.

The report suggested that the layoffs would take effect at the end of the month. Accordingly, Intel is laying off 10 GPU software engineers, eight system software development engineers, six cloud software engineers, six product marketing engineers and six system-on-chip design engineers, among other employees. Notably, Intel’s Folsom campus houses R&D departments for a number of activities, including the development of SSDs, graphics processors, software, and chipsets.
