ToneTag launches new payment mode ‘Pay-by-Car’: UPI payment can be done through car’s infotainment system, Fastag will also be recharged
Amazon and MasterCard supported company ToneTag has launched a new payment mode ‘pay-by-car’. Through this, users will be able to make UPI payment from their car without smartphone and card (credit/debit). For this, the user will have to link his car’s infotainment system with UPI.
To make all vehicle related payments easier, this payment mode has currently been started at petrol pumps. Apart from this, you can also check the balance and recharge the fastag of the car. MG Hector has tested this service in partnership with Bharat Petroleum.
How Pay-by-Car works
- As soon as the car reaches the fuel station, the fuel dispenser number will be displayed on the infotainment system. This number is a kind of code through which payment can be made.
- Along with this, a sound of reaching the fuel station will also be heard from the car’s infotainment system.
- After filling petrol or diesel in the car, you can enter the amount in the infotainment system and make payment on the dispenser number.
- After the payment is made, its notification will be visible on the display of the infotainment system, and a voice alert will also be received.
ToneTag is the first company to create offline payment system.
According to ToneTag’s website, it is the world’s first and largest company to develop audio based contactless payment system. It was created by Kumar Abhishek in the year 2003. Tone-Tag launched the bill payment system through phone conversation in collaboration with National Payment Corporation of India (NPCI) at the recently held Global Fintech Fest. Earlier, the company had also tested the offline voice payment system with the Reserve Bank of India (RBI) sandbox.
