Big news: Meesho took the decision in view of the upcoming festive season, more than five lakh people will get jobs.
There is good news for people looking for jobs. E-commerce firm Meesho has announced to provide jobs to more than five lakh people to meet the increasing demand during the upcoming festive season. Let us tell you, this is 50 percent more than the employment provided by Meesho last year.
Meesho aims to enable around two lakh job opportunities through its partnerships with third-party logistics like Ecom Express, DTDC, Elastic Run, Loadshare, Delhivery, ShadowFax and ExpressBiz. More than 60 percent of these opportunities will be from Tier-III and Tier-IV sectors. These roles will primarily include first-mile and delivery associates responsible for tasks such as delivery-picking, sorting, loading, unloading and returns.
Saurabh Pandey, Chief Experience Officer, Fulfillment & Experience, said, “We are expecting a substantial increase in demand during this festive season. The creation of these opportunities is focused on enhancing the overall customer experience during the festive season and empowering countless small businesses.’
Additionally, Meesho vendors are estimated to employ over three lakh employees as part of their requirements for the festive season. These seasonal employees will assist Meesho’s vendors in a variety of capacities, including manufacturing, packaging and sorting, to meet growing customer demand.
At the same time, more than 80 percent of sellers on Meesho intend to launch new products, venture into new categories like fashion accessories and festive decorations. To ensure they are well prepared for increased demand, more than 30 percent of Meesho sellers are investing in renting additional storage space for their inventory.
