Nokia India built the first 6G lab in Bengaluru: Will do research to make the network like a sensor, education and business will benefit.
Telecom company Nokia has created a 6G lab in its Global Research and Development Center in Bengaluru. The company claims that this is the first lab of its kind. This lab was inaugurated by Railway and Telecom Minister Ashwini Vaishnav.
In this lab, research will be done to make ‘Network as a Sensor’ i.e. network like a sensor. Through this technology, the network will be able to sense objects, people and movement without any onboard sensor. Through this technology the digital and physical world can be brought together.
People will also be able to interact with distant objects
The company said that sensing will be completely connected to the wireless network and will work along with communication services. With its help, people will be able to see around them, know the things around them better and will also be able to interact with distant objects.
The company said that Nokia is keeping pace with the world in 5G network distribution. Also working on 6G. For this, the company is working on this project in collaboration with industrialists, academicians and global research institutes.
The company is working on a common vision for 6G, which includes Hexa-X and Hexa-X-II. These are the first and second European flagships. Nokia is also a founding member of the Next G Alliance.
Big step towards making India an innovation hub
On the occasion of the inauguration of this 6G Lab, Railway Minister Ashwini Vaishnav said that the inauguration of the 6G Lab today in Bengaluru is a step in Prime Minister Modi’s vision of making India a hub of innovation. He said, this is the first live 6G lab established in India with live 6G demo setup on MS Web Spectrum. Research labs, academicians and startups will benefit from this.
