Akasa Air: Airline approved to operate aircraft in West Asian countries, CEO said this on Jhunjhunwala family
Akasa Air: Dubey stressed that Akasa Air is in “growth mode” with strong financial position. He said the airline will announce orders for three-digit aircraft in 75 days or by the end of this year. The airline has received approval from the Ministry of Civil Aviation to operate flights to Riyadh and Jeddah in Saudi Arabia, Doha (Qatar) and Kuwait.
Akasa Air has received permission to start air services to Riyadh, Jeddah, Doha and Kuwait. Airline chief Vinay Dubey has expressed hope of starting flight services to these airfields soon. In the month of August itself, Akasa Air completed one year of its operations. The company has a fleet of 20 Boeing 737 Max aircraft. Two more aircraft are expected to be added to the airline’s fleet by the end of this year.

Dubey said that now the airline will work with the respective foreign governments for various other approvals to start international operations and this will take some time. Akasa Air currently operates 700 flights between 16 cities in the country. According to the latest official data, 5.17 lakh passengers traveled through Akasa Air in the month of September, which is 4.2 percent of the domestic aviation market.
Vinay Dubey, CEO of Akasa Air, said, “We do not need funding to order three digits of aircraft in the next 75 days.” Responding to reports of Jhunjhunwala family withdrawing from investment in the airline, he said that we also hear rumors about the Jhunjhunwala family leaving, which are absurd and the family says that they have invested in the airline for a long time.
