On the lines of Shark Tank, Tamil Nadu government started ‘Startup Thamizha’ TV show, received commitment of funding of Rs 200 crore.
PTI, Chennai. The Tamil Nadu government has taken a big step to support the growing startups and entrepreneurs in the country. Inspired by the popular TV show Shark Tank, StartupTN, the nodal agency of the Government of Tamil Nadu, has launched a reality television show ‘Startup Thamizha’.
‘Startup Thamizha’ TV program launched by the Government of Tamil Nadu aims to provide a platform for budding entrepreneurs at the grassroots level. According to a top official, ‘Startup Thamizha’ has received funding commitments of Rs 200 crore from entrepreneurs and angel investors.
Who will invest how much?
According to a press release, Refex Group contributed Rs 100 crore, Dr. Velumani of Thyrocare contributed another Rs 50 crore.
Pontac has promised Rs 25 crore.
Angel investment firm Native Lead Angels has committed an investment of Rs 10 crore, while the remaining amount will be contributed by other investors.
