Iphone by Tata: Tata has decided to double the production of Apple iPhone in the country. Tata Group company Tata Electronics will increase the capacity of its Hosur plant. The company will complete this work in about 18 months. Due to this, about 25 to 28 thousand people are likely to get jobs. After completion of the project, the capacity of the company’s Hosur plant will double. Besides this, iPhone export from the country will also increase.
Tata Electronics had acquired Wistron’s plant
Tata Electronics had recently acquired Wistron’s plant located in Kolar district of Karnataka. Due to this, the company’s ability to manufacture high end electronic items and accessories has increased. An investment of Rs 5000 crore was made on Hosur unit. Currently, 15 thousand employees work in this plant spread over about 500 acres. If the plant is expanded in one to one and a half years, the number of employees here can reach 28 thousand.
The company will focus more on making iPhone
According to sources, the plant will be expanded keeping only iPhone manufacturing in mind. Apple phone parts will be made here. If needed, the company can also use it for other products. Land is being searched nearby for this plant. iPhones made here will also be exported. Tata wants to promote smartphone manufacturing in the country. This plant will play a very important role in this scheme.
Apple beats Samsung
When Apple decided to move its manufacturing out of China, it chose only Tata from India. After this, the American company gave the job of manufacturing iPhone to Tata Electronics. In the second quarter of the current financial year, Apple has overtaken Samsung to become the largest smartphone exporting company from India. About 12 million phones went from the country to other countries in the quarter. Of this, 49 percent was owned by Apple and 45 percent by Samsung.
