AMD: American chip manufacturer AMD opens its largest design center in Bengaluru, 3000 people will get jobs
US chip maker AMD expanded its research, development and engineering operations in India by opening the largest global design center in Bengaluru. The state-of-the-art campus will host approximately 3,000 AMD engineers, the company said in a press release.
Design and development of semiconductor technology including 3D stacking, artificial intelligence and machine learning will be done at this centre. According to AMD, its ‘TechnoStar’ campus has been set up as part of the company’s USD 400 million investment in India over the next five years, which it announced at Semicon India 2023 in July.
Union Minister for Telecommunications, Electronics and Information Technology Ashwini Vaishnav inaugurated the facility. “The India Semiconductor Program focuses on supporting the semiconductor design and talent ecosystem,” he was quoted as saying in the release. He said, ‘AMD setting up its largest design center in Bengaluru is a testament to the confidence that global companies have in India.
