ONDC announces Build for India initiative, plans to deal with challenges related to digital commerce

Open Network for Digital Commerce (ONDC), supported by the Ministry of Commerce and Industry, has announced the ‘Build for Bharat’ initiative in collaboration with Google Cloud India, Antler in India, Paytm, Proteus and Startup India. The objective of this initiative is to promote industrial innovation to develop practical solutions in this sector while addressing the challenges associated with digital commerce. This is the future plan for ‘Build for Bharat’
‘Build for Bharat’ aims to leverage India’s technological and entrepreneurial potential with an expected participation of over two lakh participants coming from startups, companies and colleges.
An event was organized to launch this initiative. There are currently 2.35 lakh merchants on the ONDC platform and efforts are being made to take this number to three lakh by the end of the current financial year 2023-24.
Small entrepreneurs will join e-commerce
Thousands of transactions take place through this network, which efforts are being made to take to 60-70 lakh. On the ONDC network, customers get multiple options at once, whereas other e-commerce platforms do not have this type of facility. ONDC also aims to connect small entrepreneurs with e-commerce.
