Kolkata emerged as the leading metro city in terms of increase in recruitment. Pune and Chandigarh remained the top-tier 2 cities showing substantial growth in employment opportunities.
Due to this the demand for workers increased
According to global matching and hiring platform Indeed, several factors are contributing to the surging job growth in these cities, including the growth of SMBs, urbanisation, infrastructure development, expanding service sector and cost-effective labor markets. Shashi Kumar, head of sales at Indeed India, said 2023 saw a substantial increase in hiring, especially in tier-2 cities. Looking to 2024, organizations adopting new technology emphasize the need to enhance skills among job seekers for a bright future.
Companies gave preference to new people
Blue-collar employers (49 percent) look for Generation Z talent (those under the age of 26) in 2023, while white-collar (41 percent) look for Millennial candidates (those ages 27 to 41). Both digital literacy (27 percent) and physical strength (83 percent) are also among the primary hard and soft skills that employers desire when hiring.
Emphasis on adopting next-generation technology
“In contrast, the preference for Millennial hires by white-collar employers suggests a nuanced approach to tasks that may require experience and refined skill sets,” the report said. The findings also showed That employers are ready to adopt next-generation technology. 42 percent of employers expressed their interest in starting integration with AI by taking small steps in 2024, with 19 percent of employers reporting that they have already implemented it.
