Sembcorp signs agreement with Japanese companies for green ammonia project in India
New Delhi: Sembcorp has signed a big deal for the production of green ammonia in India. Singapore company Sembcorp Industries has signed a deal to export green ammonia from India to Japan. With this deal we aim to strengthen our position regarding green energy. Sembcorp has partnered with two Japanese companies to produce green ammonia in India for supply to Japan.
The company aims to strengthen its position as a leading green energy supplier. Sembcorp Green Hydrogen Pte Ltd, a unit of Sembcorp Industries, has partnered with Japanese conglomerate Sojitz Corp and energy major Kyushu Electric Power to pursue potential opportunities for green ammonia production in India for export to Japan, according to a statement issued by the company. The partnership with green ammonia will support the (Japanese government’s) goal of achieving net-zero by 2050 as an important energy source to decarbonize Japan’s power supply mix, according to the statement. This MoU was also presented at the ‘Asia Zero Emission Community Leaders’ meeting organized by the Ministry of Economy, Trade and Industry of Japan on 16 December 2023.
