Report: Six tech companies including Google will not provide jobs in India, badly affected by the global economic recession.
People looking for jobs in the technology sector may get a shock in the New Year. Six of the world’s biggest tech companies, including Google, Facebook, Amazon and Apple, are planning to ban new appointments in India. According to a report, there has been a huge decline in job postings by Facebook (Meta Platform), Amazon, Apple, Microsoft, Netflix and Google. Compared to 2022, this year there has been a 90 percent decline in the number of jobs provided by these companies in India. Due to this, it is being speculated that these companies may ban new recruitments in India.
At present, active recruitment of companies has reduced by 98 percent and has reached an all-time low. Experts believe that tech companies are worst affected by the global economic recession, as most of their earnings depend on the US economy.
Demand for jobs decreased by 78 percent
The current global economic situation and the rapid adoption of Artificial Intelligence (AI) has seen the demand for jobs in companies like Google, Netflix and Meta, especially in India, drop by 78 per cent through 2023. This situation may continue for the next two quarters.
Indian startup laid off 28,000
The condition of Indian startup companies has also been very bad throughout this year. These companies have laid off more than 28,000 people. Also, new recruits were not made.
Google fired 12,000 employees last year
Due to the economic recession, Google made its biggest layoff ever last year. The company had laid off 12,000 employees at that time.
There may be only 30,000 recruitments worldwide
Big tech companies currently have just 30,000 jobs globally. Due to this, there has been a decline of more than 50 percent in recruitment. Meanwhile, less than 1.50 lakh people are currently working in tech companies in India.
