SEBI: G Rammohan Rao becomes new ED, will handle Investigation and Internal Inspection Department
SEBI has informed that Govindayapalli Ram Mohan Rao has been appointed as Executive Director and has assumed his charge. His appointment will be effective for 3 years. With this appointment, Rao will handle the Investigation and Internal Inspection Department in SEBI. His appointment has become effective from January 3, 2024. Before this he was holding the post of Regional Director in SEBI. He has worked in many important departments directly related to investors.
Rao was the regional director in the Eastern Region Office.
According to the information given by SEBI, before the new responsibility, Rao was working as Regional Director in the Eastern Region Office of SEBI. His responsibilities included inspection, collective investment scheme, litigation, recovery, establishment of investor service centre, awareness among investors, financial literacy, redressal of complaints etc. Apart from this, he was also looking after the coordination work between 13 states and union territories.
Important responsibility of monitoring the market
Now Rao is going to handle very important departments like Investigation and Internal Inspection, although he already has a lot of experience in this field. Before this, he has also performed responsibilities like inspection, investigation and market surveillance. He has also been associated with CFIO. Rao has studied engineering and has done MBA from Osmania University. He also has a law degree and is a certified fraud examiner.
