You can make UPI payment abroad through Google Pay, the company signed an agreement with NPCI
PTI, New Delhi. NPCI is continuously taking several steps to increase digital payments in the country. Now apart from India, payment can be done through UPI in many countries of the world. An agreement has been signed between NPC and Google to promote UPI Payment.
Google India Digital Services and NPCI International Payments Limited have partnered to expand UPI payments to countries outside India. The Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) will enable Indian travelers to make payments in other countries through Google Pay (also known as GPay). In such a situation, the problem of carrying cash or foreign currency while going abroad will end.
Purpose of this agreement
- Google Pay said in a statement that this MOU has three main objectives.
- It also seeks to widen the use of UPI payments for travelers outside India. With this he will be able to easily transact abroad.
- The objective of the MoU is to assist in setting up digital payment systems like UPI in other countries. It gives a model for seamless financial transactions.
- It focuses on simplifying the process of cross border financial exchange between countries using the UPI infrastructure.
What is the benefit of this agreement?
- The MoU will strengthen UPI’s global presence. Will give foreign traders access to Indian customers.
- Henceforth, there will be no need to rely solely on foreign currency and/or credit or foreign currency cards to make digital payments.
- Now people will have the option to use UPI powered apps from India.
- This will also simplify the process of exchanging money.
