Adani Group is laying a lot of emphasis on port business. The business of Adani Ports and Special Economic Zone, India’s largest commercial port operator company, is growing rapidly. The company is continuously working on new ports. Now Adani Group company Adani Ports has purchased Gopalpur Port of Shapoorji Pallonji Group located in Gopalpur, Odisha. Shapoorji Pallonji Group came out in a statement confirming that it has sold Gopalpur Port to Adani Ports. This deal has been done for Rs 3350 crore. The company said in a statement that earlier Dharamtar Port was handed over to JSW Infrastructure Ltd. was sold at an enterprise value of Rs 710 crore. ET had first reported on December 7 that Adani was in talks to acquire Gopalpur port.

Gopalpur Port of Odisha is said to be strategically important. It is an important port located on the east coast of India. Adani Group already has a strong presence on the west coast. Now after this deal, Adani will have 6 multi-purpose ports on the east coast. With 5 ports already present on the east coast, Adani Group has a capacity of about 247 million tonnes. SP Ports Maintenance, which holds 56 per cent stake in Gopalpur port, with the remainder owned by Odisha Stevedores, is awaiting resolution.
