Boeing Chief Executive Officer Dave Calhoun will resign from his post. The company announced this. The company said they are facing investigation into several recent security incidents. In such a situation, due to security reasons, the company has decided to change the management. As part of this change, Dave Calhoun will leave his post by the end of this year.
The company said in its statement that Stan Deal, President and CEO of Boeing Commercial Airplanes, will also retire. Stephanie Pope will replace him. Steve Mollenkopf, former CEO of tech company Qualcomm, has been appointed as the new chairman of the board.
Calhoun, who took over the top job at Boeing in January 2020, is hurt by the recent developments in the planes. He said his company is committed to working closely with the National Transportation Safety Board (NTSB) which is investigating these cases. Dave Calhoun said the NTSB is a capable institution and we trust every step they took and their findings. After the accident at Alaska Airlines, the US regulator has grounded 171 Boeing 737 Max 9 aircraft.
