FM Exclusive: What is the government’s strategy to make India a global manufacturing hub?
Does the government have any new strategy to make India a global manufacturing hub or will the government move ahead with this strategy? In response to this question, Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman said that when the government had started ‘Make in India’ in 2015, the government had given details of the path to create manufacturing hubs.
He said, “There should be manufacturing in India and that too to increase the GDP of the country, there should be exports from India to foreign countries, this was a part of ‘Make in India’, then self-reliance was added to it. The Finance Minister said that whatever we import from outside, we will be able to manufacture in India.
Defense exports cross Rs 25 thousand crores
The Finance Minister said that today the country’s defense export has exceeded Rs 25 thousand crores and the defense requirement in India is also being produced in India. The Finance Minister said that the country’s imports for defense are decreasing and exports are also increasing. Similarly, the government will work to increase manufacturing capacity in other sectors also.
