Uber cab company buses will also run in Delhi! got approval
Uber, one of the world’s largest ride sharing companies, is now going to provide its bus service in Delhi. The company has also obtained license for this from Delhi Government. The Delhi Transport Department has reportedly issued a license to Uber to operate its bus service in the National Capital Region. Now buses are also going to be included in the ride hailing service of the company.
Earlier, Uber mainly had four-wheelers available for ride hailing service. The company also operates bike ride hailing and auto ride hailing services. But now buses have also been included in it. The company’s competitors include players like Ola Cabs, Rapido. According to an ET report, Uber has received this license under the Delhi government’s app-based premium bus aggregator scheme.
The Delhi government’s app-based premium bus aggregator scheme was launched in November last year. Under this scheme, the government wants to provide such public transport for the upper middle class people which provides maximum convenience to the people. This means that like cabs, people can travel in buses as easily by making their bookings. This will save people’s time and also reduce the burden on vehicles on the roads by booking a ride in a bus instead of booking a personal cab.
Under the scheme, aggregators will have to set a dynamic price for this. This price should not be less than the maximum fare for air conditioned (AC) buses of DTC. Uber has already started this type of bus service in Egypt. India will be the second country in which Uber bus riding service is being started. The American company has named it Uber Shuttle service.
Talking about India, the company is currently operating its Uber shuttle service in Kolkata. The company has been running a campaign for this in Delhi for the last one year. For this, the company is planning such routes in Delhi which will connect the business area with the residential area. In this, almost all parts of Delhi will be covered. The bus will have a seating capacity of 19 to 50 people. Uber has more than 10 lakh drivers in India. India is the third country after America and Brazil in which Uber has more than 1 million drivers.
