Like iPhone, Google Pixel phones will now be made in India only, know which company has got the project?

After Apple’s iPhone, now Google’s Pixel smartphone is also going to be indigenous. Dixon Technologies has got the project to manufacture this device in India. The move will boost the government’s Make in India program and electronics manufacturing initiatives. Besides, this will strengthen India’s position in the global smartphone manufacturing ecosystem. Apple has transferred a large part of its production to India. Since then, India is rapidly emerging as a center of smartphone manufacturing. Google had announced in October last year that manufacturing Pixel phones in India was on its agenda. The company had then said that it is talking to potential manufacturing partners and supply chain ecosystem to make Pixel 8 and its variants in India.

Government and industry sources told Times of India that Dixon has been selected to make Pixel in India. Trial production is expected to start soon. Sources said Google wants to use production in India to meet the needs of the domestic market and potentially also for exports. However, Dixon refused to comment on this. Sundar Pichai, CEO of Google’s parent company Alphabet, talked about this in October. “We shared plans to manufacture Pixel smartphones locally in #GoogleforIndia and expect the first devices to hit the market in 2024,” he said on micro-blogging platform We are committed to becoming a trusted partner in India’s digital development.

Why is the company excited

Sources said Google had been in talks with various potential partners for more than a year. Recently Dixon was selected for this. Competition in smartphone manufacturing is increasing in India. Also, the government has created a production-linked incentive scheme for mobile phone manufacturers. Under this, they are being given many types of benefits. Due to this, Google is excited to make smartphones in India.
