Be careful if this company’s router is installed, government issues high warning
At present, wireless routers can be seen in almost all the houses across the country. Whenever there is a problem with these devices, concerns increase. The Indian government has also taken note of this issue and has issued a high alert warning for people using TP-Link brand wireless routers.
A large portion of routers affected
According to the available details on the security issue with TP-Link routers, the biggest problem with the security issue is that a large part of TP-Link routers running on firmware version 1_1.1.6 have been affected. A security risk affecting TP-Link routers allows attackers to bypass existing security levels. With this, attackers can do anything with these devices. According to Germany-based cyber security firm ONEKEY, by taking advantage of this problem, attackers can obtain arbitrary commands on the device with advanced facilities.
According to a bulletin by the Indian Computer Emergency Response Team (CERT-In), the vulnerability exists in TP-Link routers due to improper neutralization of special elements used in the binary called RFTest. This binary exposes a network service that is vulnerable to unauthenticated command injection.
New firmware already available
Actual Security Risk was observed in the TP-Link Archer C5400X gaming router, which was also running firmware version 1_1.1.6. However, the good news is that a new firmware is already available. Therefore, you can fix the problem in TP-Link router by updating to the latest version.
