Japan Airlines signs codeshare agreement with IndiGo, passengers will get more options

Japan Airlines has signed a ‘codeshare’ agreement with IndiGo. This will help the Japanese carrier expand services to 14 destinations in its domestic airline network. Japan Airlines currently operates services from Tokyo to Delhi and Bengaluru. According to Bhasha news, it operates daily flight service from Haneda Airport to the national capital, while three flights a week from Narita Airport to Bengaluru. Japan Airlines (JAL) and IndiGo have agreed to a codeshare partnership, the statement said.

People benefit from more travel options available

According to the news, the code share agreement will benefit people by making more travel options available between Japan and India. Abhijit Dasgupta, senior vice president, network planning and revenue management, airline IndiGo, said that IndiGo is expanding its segment of codeshare partnership with Japan Airlines with this agreement. This phase of the partnership expands the options available to Japan Airlines customers to travel to/from Japan using IndiGo’s extensive network in India.

You will be able to book your flight on a single ticket

Dasgupta said that this partnership between the two airlines will provide seamless connectivity to promote trade, commerce and tourism between the two countries. Ross Leggett, Managing Executive Officer and Senior Vice President (Route Marketing) at Japan Airlines, said that with the extensive network, passengers traveling to and from India and Japan will be able to book their flights on a single ticket.

India has achieved remarkable economic growth in recent years. Demand for air travel between Japan and India is growing more than ever. Airline companies around the world enter into code share agreements among themselves to provide convenience to their passengers and expand their routes. Earlier in India also, Air India and other airlines have made this agreement with many companies.
