Airbus-TATA are looking for land for helicopter manufacturing, production will start in India from 2026
Airbus Helicopters on Tuesday said it is working with Tata Group to identify a location to set up a final assembly line (FAL) for helicopter production in India. Sunny Guglani, Head of India and South Asia of Airbus Helicopters, a unit of leading aircraft manufacturer Airbus, gave this information on the occasion of the launch of its H145 helicopter here. The company has launched the H145 helicopter in collaboration with coastal and marine helicopter service provider Heligo Charters.
Had partnered with Tata Group
Airbus’s helicopter manufacturing division had in January this year said it would partner with Tata Group to set up helicopter final assembly lines in India to boost indigenous manufacturing activities. The location of this unit was to be decided jointly by Airbus and Tata Group. “We are working with the Tata group to determine the location and plan how the factory will be set up,” Guglani told reporters.
Production will increase after 2026
He said the unit is expected to produce three helicopters in 2026 and production will ramp up thereafter. Tata Group’s subsidiary Tata Advanced Systems Limited had talked about setting up a production facility with Airbus Helicopters as part of a partnership announced in January. This will be the second assembly line of Airbus to be built in India after the manufacturing facility of C-295 military aircraft is set up in Gujarat.
