You will get relief from spam calls, TRAI gave these instructions to mobile companies
To curb unwanted calls, telecom regulator Trai on Monday asked telecom companies to make their mobile apps and web portals more user-friendly for registration of spam complaints and setting of preferences and consent. The Telecom Regulatory Authority of India (TRAI) also said that all service providers will have to submit performance monitoring reports on a monthly basis instead of the previous quarter.

“In its continued endeavor to reduce Unsolicited Commercial Communications (UCC) i.e. spam, TRAI has mandated service providers to improve their mobile apps and web portals to enable registration of spam call related complaints,” the regulator said in a release. And preference settings to make them more user-friendly.” TRAI has asked service providers to ensure that options for registration and preference management of spam complaints are easily available on their mobile apps and websites.

Further if users allow access to their call details and other relevant data then the details required for registration of complaints should be captured automatically. According to the release, TRAI has also implemented amendments in the formats of Performance Monitoring Reports (PMRs) to strengthen the monitoring mechanism for spam calls. For more detailed monitoring, all providers will now be required to submit performance monitoring reports on a monthly basis, whereas earlier they were required to submit quarterly reports.
