AIR INDIA will set up flying institute in this state, so many commercial pilots will be trained every year
Tata Group-owned domestic airline company Air India on Monday announced to set up a flying training institute in Amravati, Maharashtra. The airline will train 180 commercial pilots every year under this initiative. According to Bhasha news, Air India said in a statement that the Directorate General of Civil Aviation (DGCA) licensed flight training organization (FTO) at Belora airport will be the largest of its kind in South Asia.
This will be the first such facility
According to the news, the Flying Training Institute will be ready in the first quarter of the next financial year. The airline also informed that this upcoming facility will be the first to be set up by any Indian airline in the country. It will have 31 single engine aircraft and three double engine aircraft for training. Air India said it has received the tender from Maharashtra Airport Development Company (MADC) to set up and operate the facility for 30 years.
The ambition of becoming an international airline will get support
Campbell Wilson, Managing Director and CEO, Air India, said that the FTO in Amravati is towards making Indian aviation more self-reliant and providing more opportunities to the youth in India to fulfill their ambitions of flying as pilots. This will be an important step. He said that the young pilots trained in this FTO will boost Air India’s ambition of becoming an international airline.
MADC Vice Chairman and Managing Director Swati Pandey said that the collaborative initiative between MADC and Air India will not only generate more than 3,000 new employment opportunities in the aviation sector but will also support the economy of Maharashtra. Air India has been purchased by Tata Group from the Government of India.
