TCS signs agreement with Rolls Royce, will work on technology related to hydrogen fuel system
Tata Consultancy Services (TCS) and Rolls-Royce have announced a joint venture to research hydrogen fuel system technology. Under this venture, both the companies will work on preparing hydrogen as zero carbon aviation fuel in the coming time. According to a regulatory filing, TCS and Rolls-Royce have come together to promote sustainable initiatives. The primary focus of this collaboration is to explore hydrogen fuel system technology. Only through this, zero carbon aviation fuel can be made from hydrogen.
Under this collaboration, TCS will provide its engineering expertise to Rolls-Royce. There will be three important challenges in the research to make hydrogen useful in aviation. These include fuel combustion, fuel delivery and fuel system integration with an engine.
This collaboration is a step towards bringing sustainable transformation in industries and betterment of society. The International Air Transport Association (IATA) has set ambitious targets for net zero carbon emissions by 2050.
For this, innovative sustainability solutions are needed. Rolls-Royce Research and Technology Director Alan Newby welcomed TCS to the hydrogen research program and said that his engineering skills will play an important role in achieving the technology goals.
This collaboration builds on the long-term relationship between Rolls-Royce and Tata Group, which also includes engine development and a strong supply chain commitment.
Tata Consultancy Services (TCS) has been working with Rolls-Royce since 2010 in different sectors like design, manufacturing engineering, control systems and software, after-market services as well as IT services.
TCS will now use its deep knowledge of the aviation manufacturing industry to support Rolls-Royce’s engineering activities such as systems design, equipment design, supply chain and program management.
Let us tell you, this new partnership was announced at the Farnborough International Airshow, where TCS also demonstrated its technological capability in the aviation industry.
