Adani Green starts production of wind energy at Khawra plant, world’s largest turbine installed
Adani Green has started production of wind energy at Adani’s Khavra Renewable Energy Project in Gujarat. It is the world’s largest renewable energy plant with a capacity of 30,000 megawatts (30 GW). Built over 538 square kilometers of barren land, it is a project five times the size of Paris and almost the size of Mumbai city. Now Adani Green has started operating the first 250 MW wind energy capacity here. With this, the total energy production capacity of Khavra Renewable Energy Plant has now become 2,250 MW.
The world’s largest offshore wind turbine is installed here
Adani Green Energy has the largest operational renewable energy portfolio in India at 11,184 MW. The company said that Khavra is the largest source of wind energy in India. The wind speed of 8 meters per second makes it a suitable location for wind power generation. Khavda Renewable Energy Plant is home to the world’s largest and most powerful offshore wind turbines, each with a capacity of 5.2 MW. The rotor of this 5.2 MW capacity turbine has a diameter of 160 meters and its height is about 200 meters, which is equal to the Statue of Unity and is the largest in the world.
German technology used
German technology has been used in making the 5.2 MW wind turbine installed in Khavda and it has been made in the factory located at Mundra Port of Adani New Industry Limited. Adani Green has transformed the barren land of Khavra into a hub of clean and affordable energy. Khavda Renewable Energy Plant can easily power 1.61 crore homes. The world’s largest renewable energy plant at Khawra adds to efforts in global de-carbonization, while also showcasing India’s progress in this area.
The king of Bhutan visited
On Tuesday, Bhutan’s King Jigme Khesar Namgyel Wangchuck and Prime Minister Dasho Tshering Tobgay visited the world’s largest renewable energy site in Khavra, Gujarat. Adani Group Chairman Gautam Adani said that he is very grateful for visiting Khavra Renewable Energy Site and Mundra Port. Within 12 months of laying the foundation stone, 2 GW energy capacity has been commissioned at Khavra Energy Plant. Adani Green Energy has increased the target of renewable energy capacity from 45 GW to 50 GW for the financial year 2029-30.
