India’s dominance in telecom equipment manufacturing increased, exports taking place in many countries of the world
Telecom equipment made in India is now being exported to more than 100 countries. This information has been given by the Central Government. Last year, $18.2 billion worth of telecom equipment and services were exported from India. Madhu Arora, Member (Technology) in the Digital Communications Commission under the Department of Telecommunications, said that many domestic telecom companies have achieved success in selling equipment despite tough competition in western countries like the US.
Backbone of defense operations
He further said that the Indian Army has recently integrated an indigenously developed chip based 4G mobile base station, which was developed by our R&D firm. Speaking at the ‘Defence Sector ICT Conclave’ held in the national capital, Arora said that Information and Communication Technology (ICT) is the backbone of defense operations. Abhishek Singh, Joint Secretary in the Ministry of External Affairs, said that the Ministry is working to increase cooperation with Africa in the ICT sector.
One of Africa’s top five investors
India is one of the top five investors in Africa. So far, investments worth $75 billion have been made in different African countries. Many Indian companies are leading the digital transformation in Africa. Telecom Equipment and Services Export Promotion Council (TEPC) Executive Chairman Sandeep Aggarwal said that ICT is very important to maintain the sovereignty and integrity of India. India has been cooperating with Africa for a long time and also respects its sovereignty. This makes it a reliable partner for Africa.
Aggarwal further said that our proficiency in data analytics and artificial intelligence provides our forces with predictive insights and actionable intelligence, thereby making decision making and operations more effective.
