Amazon will expand data center business in Hyderabad, skilled youth will get employment in large numbers
Amazon Web Services (AWS) has expanded its presence in Hyderabad and plans to launch a new hyperscale data center here for AI/ML based services. The company has expressed keen interest in making a big investment in expanding its data center facilities and workforce in Hyderabad. This will provide employment to a large number of skilled youth.
A delegation from the state led by Telangana IT and Industries Minister D. Sridhar Babu met Kerry Person, Vice President, Data Centre Planning and Delivery, AWS in Palo Alto, California, US. The minister persuaded the company to strengthen its data centre operations in Telangana.
Already has a strong presence in Telangana
Amazon already has a strong presence in Telangana. Hyderabad has their largest corporate building in the world. Amazon launched its dedicated air cargo network ‘Amazon Air’ in Hyderabad last year. AWS has designated Hyderabad as a strategic region. It already has three large data centres operational here. The company shared with the delegation its plans for further expansion of its business, including new hyper-scale data centres, the state government said in a statement in Hyderabad on Sunday.
Excited by the opportunity to expand
Sridhar Babu said, “Our discussions with Amazon were extremely positive and successful. We assured the company that we will provide them with the best incentives and full support to make their goals successful in Hyderabad. We look forward to a major expansion of their presence in our state.” Kerry Person said: “I am excited by the opportunity to further expand our cloud infrastructure in Hyderabad, Telangana, which is an integral part of AWS’s strategy in India. We expect the AWS Region in Hyderabad to play a key role in supporting the growth of AWS’s cloud services in India, including artificial intelligence, in the near future.”

Amazon offers a range of cloud business services including computing, storage, databases, networking, machine learning, analytics and other services, which will now also include AI.
