Future jobs will come from AI, India should lead the world, Ola CEO told how the industry will change
Ola Founder Bhavish Aggarwal is promoting cutting-edge technology to keep India at the forefront of the current global technological transformation. Along with this, they also aim to create a large number of future jobs in the country. For this he is also emphasizing on AI. Aggarwal said that the private sector has to do a big job of creating employment. It is the responsibility of the government to create an enabling environment for this and correct the imbalance. Aggarwal also supported the government’s move to provide fiscal incentives to global EV manufacturers, including Tesla, through the new EV policy and said it is important for India to attract all types of investments.
The aim is to make India a global EV center
He said the globally established company will help in the development of EV ecosystem in the country. Ola Electric, the group’s newly listed unit, aims to make India a global electric vehicle (EV) hub, but the country will have to make its own EV and energy transition policy based on its needs. The world cannot achieve a sustainable future without India. “Global technology is changing and AI is a very important technology of the future,” Agarwal said. We need to lead this journey in India. If you look at the current situation, I think we are still adopting someone else’s technology paradigm, especially in the digital world.
Building your own ai
He asked why Ola Group had founded AI startup ‘Crutrim’ last year. He said that Crutrim aims to create AI models based on Indian data, which are more suited to Indian use cases, Indian paradigms. “We are building our own AI on our own cloud, on our own chip,” he said. India currently produces 20 percent of the world’s digital data. Despite this, the country does not have complete ownership of the data, because 80 percent of the data is stored outside. With the help of this data, AI is created and it is brought back to India and sold to us in dollars.” Asked about concerns of job losses due to AI, he said that when people fear Was that computers will take away jobs, then IT boom created jobs in India and AI is one such tool. Aggarwal said, “AI cannot replace anyone.” “That future may be a few decades away.”
Future technologies will bring future jobs
He said we don’t need to be worried about that future right now. We as a country need to see that AI is going to increase productivity. If we do not join this journey, we will be left behind. He said that the way forward is for India to become experts in the technology of the future. “Future technologies bring with them future jobs, future supply chains,” he said. If we are the global leader, we are the fastest adopting market of future technologies, the future jobs will also be created in India, the future supply chains will also be created in India. This is the only way.” Aggarwal said that if we try to save the past, we will not be able to remain competitive.
