Apple will provide 2 lakh jobs in India by March 2025: Of these, about 1.40 lakh will be women, the company and suppliers gave data to the government.
iPhone maker Apple will provide 2 lakh direct jobs in India by March next year. 70% of these jobs will be for women. Apple and its suppliers in India have given these figures to the central government.
Actually, Apple wants to focus on India by reducing its dependence on China in terms of production. Apple’s contract manufacturers Foxconn, Wistron (now Tata Electronics) and Pegatron have already provided direct jobs to 80,872 people in India.
Additionally, suppliers such as Tata Group, Salcomp, Motherson, Foxlink (Tamil Nadu), Sunvoda (Uttar Pradesh), ATL (Haryana) and Jabil (Maharashtra) have together created around 84,000 direct jobs.
Vendors and suppliers have provided 1.65 lakh jobs since 2020
Apple’s vendors-suppliers have created 1.65 lakh direct jobs in India since the smartphone PLI (Production Linked Initiative Scheme) in 2020. Apple is continuously increasing its production capacity in India.
The government estimates that for every direct job created in the electronics industry, three additional jobs are created. This means that the Apple ecosystem can generate 5 to 6 lakh jobs by the end of March.
