The deal has now been approved by the CCI with certain amendments proposed by both the parties. “The proposed combination involving Reliance Industries Ltd, Viacom18 Media Pvt Ltd, Digital18 Media Ltd, Star India Pvt Ltd and Star Television Production Ltd has been approved subject to compliance with voluntary amendments,” the regulator said in a post on X. ‘
Reliance will have 63.16% stake
However, CCI did not disclose the voluntary amendments to the original deal made by both the parties. Under the deal, Reliance and its subsidiaries will hold 63.16 percent stake in the merged company. The merged company will have two streaming services and 120 television channels. Walt Disney will hold the remaining 36.84 percent stake.
