Ford India: Ford is coming back! Will open its Chennai plant and provide thousands of jobs

America’s leading automobile company Ford Motor Company had pulled out of India due to continuously falling sales. However, its cars like EcoSport and Endeavor were very much liked in India. Now he is ready to enter India afresh. The company is preparing to restart its Chennai plant. Thousands of jobs will also be created through this. However, Ford will not make direct entry in the Indian market. It will run the Chennai plant through a third party. About 2 lakh vehicles and 3.40 lakh engines will be manufactured here every year.

Ford vehicles will be manufactured here and exported

Ford Motor Company had bid farewell to India in the year 2021. According to a report by Business Standard, now the company is going to re-enter India’s automobile sector. The American company has also signed the Letter of Intent (LoI) with the Tamil Nadu government. The company has promised to start manufacturing again. The vehicles manufactured here will be exported. The company believes that there can be more profit by exporting it instead of selling it in India.

Ford India used to send cars from Chennai plant to 37 countries.

This India plant of Ford is located in Maraimalai area, 50 km away from Chennai. Production here stopped in the year 2022. This plant is spread over about 350 acres. Earlier also the company used to export vehicles manufactured here to 37 countries. Senior officials of the company had recently met Tamil Nadu Chief Minister MK Stalin in America. However, it has not been decided yet which vehicles the company is going to launch in the Indian market.
