Amazon bought this leading video streaming app of India, merged it with miniTV and introduced a new platform.
Leading e-commerce platform Amazon India said that it has acquired free streaming OTT platform MX Player. The company said that it has introduced ‘Amazon MX Player’ by merging MX Player with its content streaming service miniTV. Amazon has not disclosed the valuation of the acquisition. The objective of this merger is to bring premium level free entertainment to a larger audience.
Amazon users will be able to enjoy Amazon MX Player for free
“Amazon recently acquired certain MX Player properties, including the MX Player app, a leading free streaming OTT service in India,” the statement said. According to the statement, with this acquisition, two of Amazon India’s most loved free services – MX Player and Amazon MiniTV have been merged into one service – Amazon MX Player.
What do mobile users have to do for Amazon MX Player?
This service is available through mobile app, Amazon.in shopping app, Prime Video, Fire TV and connected TV. According to the statement, integration of Amazon MiniTV and MX Player into the Amazon MX Player app will happen automatically.
MX Player’s reach will increase in India
To use MX Player and MiniTV as Amazon MX Player, users will not need to re-install or upgrade the app. Karan Bedi, Head of Amazon MX Player, said that this merger will be beneficial for our audiences, advertisers and content creators and will increase the reach of MX Player in India.
