Samsung employees called off their 37-day strike; they had stopped work since September 9 over these demands

Samsung India employees have finally decided to end the strike and return to work. About 1100 out of a total of 1750 employees of Samsung India have been on strike since September 9 over various demands. Apart from the increase in salary, the demands included better working environment and registration of the newly formed Samsung India Workers Union supported by ‘CITU’ by the Labor Department. Let us tell you that Tuesday was the 37th day of the strike of the employees.

Tamil Nadu government shared information

The Tamil Nadu government, while giving information in this matter, said that the employees of Samsung India Electronics Limited decided to withdraw the indefinite strike that was going on for more than 1 month on Tuesday. The employees have agreed to return to work. The state government said in a statement that the strike at the Korean electronics company’s factory in Sriperumbudur, Tamil Nadu, has ended and all the employees will return to work.

Samsung India employees will return to work soon

The decision to withdraw the strike was taken in a conciliation meeting held at the Labor Welfare Department’s office on Tuesday, in which representatives of Samsung India and the striking employees participated. A government release said, “All the employees involved in the strike will end their agitation and return to work immediately. On returning to work, the management will not harass the employees for participating in the protest.”

The company will not take action against the agitators

A Samsung India spokesperson said, “Samsung India welcomes CITU’s decision to withdraw the illegal strike. We thank the Tamil Nadu government for its support and welcome our employees who have decided to return to work unconditionally. We will not take any action against those employees who simply participated in this illegal strike.”
