Xiaomi: Xiaomi India head Muralikrishnan B resigns, will try his hand in academic research field

Xiaomi India Head Resigned: Muralikrishnan B, India head of Chinese smart device manufacturer Xiaomi, has resigned from the company. Giving this information, the company said that Muralikrishnan now wants to work in the field of academic research. Xiaomi said that Muralikrishnan will continue to serve the company as an independent strategic advisor in the future.

Muralikrishnan B will step down from his role at the end of this year

Xiaomi India said that Muralikrishnan B, the current president of Xiaomi India, will step down from his role at the end of this year. After being with the company for more than six years, Muralikrishnan wants to pursue his work in academic research. Muralikrishnan took over the reins of the company when its dispute with the Enforcement Directorate was at its peak. In April 2022, the Enforcement Directorate seized more than Rs 5551 crore from the company for allegedly violating foreign exchange management rules.

Xiaomi said that throughout his tenure, Muralikrishnan has played a key role in enhancing Xiaomi’s brand presence, leading the strategic direction across teams, and spearheading important public affairs efforts.

Muralikrishnan played different roles in the company

In the third quarter of 2024, the company had a 16.7 per cent share in terms of volume and 8.7 per cent share in terms of value in the Indian market. Muralikrishnan joined Xiaomi India in 2018 and held several different roles including Chief Operating Officer before being promoted to the post.
