Uber launched several services for 1 million drivers, know what will be the benefits
App-based taxi service provider Uber has launched several services for its more than 1 million drivers. These include new services (features) like helmet selfie and priority for female riders for women drivers. Their aim is to make the experience of more than 1 million drivers or driver partners on its platform “safe, easy and fair”. Apart from this, in support of the government’s Code of Social Security (COSS), Uber announced to promote registration on the e-Shram platform, which will be a unified database of ‘gig’ workers and unorganized workers. Temporary employees working for the online platform are called gig workers.
This service has been launched for the convenience of drivers
Helmet Selfie
This feature prompts two-wheeler drivers to take a selfie wearing a helmet before starting the trip, ensuring that they are safe on the road. Also, this feature prevents drivers from logging in without a helmet, reinforcing Uber’s commitment to safety and supporting the government’s vision for safer roads. Currently in the final testing phase, helmet verification is expected to be rolled out across the country early next year.
Priority to female rides
Women drivers now have the option to accept only female rides, a feature that is especially useful during late night hours. Launched based on driver feedback, this optional feature has already enabled over 21,000 trips. It helps women earners prioritize their safety, drive for longer hours and increase their income.
Audio recording
Drivers can now record audio. If they feel uncomfortable during the trip or are concerned about their safety. The encrypted recording is not accessible to the driver or rider, ensuring confidentiality. Uber does not access the audio unless the driver chooses to submit it as part of a safety report. The feature is available across the country in line with India’s one-party consent law.
