Second Quad partner after America
According to India, Japan is the second Quad partner after America to sign an agreement with India for joint development of semiconductor ecosystem and maintaining the strength of its global supply chain. Japan signed this agreement in July. Quad is a group of India, Australia, Japan and America which is an important platform for the Pacific region. Rohit Berry, President (Strategy, Risk and Transactions), Deloitte India, said that there is no better partner than Japan to develop such an ambitious and important environment of semiconductors, given the technology and expertise.
Many generations to come will benefit
Berry said that the story of semiconductors in the country is not just about setting up a factory, but it is the story of the entire environment. Berry said that this is not a matter of one or two years but it will benefit many generations to come for us and Japan.
There is scope for creation of 10 lakh jobs
India is moving towards becoming a semiconductor manufacturing hub. India’s rapid growth in the semiconductor sector could create 1 million jobs across its sectors by 2026, a report says. The demand is expected to be seen across multiple categories, including about three lakh jobs in chip semiconductor manufacturing, about two lakh jobs in ATMP (assembly, testing, marking and packaging), and additional positions in chip design, software development, system circuits and manufacturing supply chain management, a report by talent solutions company NLB Services said.
