Ordering goods from Swiggy Instamart can be expensive: The company is considering increasing the delivery charge, decision to bring the company into profit

Ordering from Swiggy Instamart, an online grocery delivery platform, can now be expensive. Because the company is preparing to increase the delivery charge on every order. Swiggy is taking this decision as part of its plan to make the company profitable.

This information has been given by Moneycontrol quoting the company’s Chief Financial Officer (CFO) Rahul Bothra. While announcing the results of the second quarter of FY 2024-25 on Tuesday, the CFO said that delivery charges are expected to increase over time. However, he did not give any deadline for the change.

Delivery is free for users with Swiggy One’s loyalty program

According to reports, delivery is free only for users with Swiggy One’s loyalty program. Other users will have to pay a dynamic fee. Blinkit, owned by Zomato, the market leader in this sector, charges delivery fees on every order, it has no loyalty program.

At the same time, Zepto also waives delivery charges for Zepto Pass (loyalty program) users, but charges others, as does Swiggy Instamart.

Swiggy suffers a loss of ₹626 crore in the second quarter

Online food delivery platform Swiggy has suffered a loss (consolidated net loss) of Rs 626 crore in the second quarter of FY 2024-25. The company had a loss of Rs 657 crore in the same quarter last year. The company’s loss has reduced by 4.72% on an annual basis. The company released the results of Q2FY25 on Tuesday (3 December).

Revenue grew 30.33% to Rs 3601 crore in the July-September quarter. In July-September 2023-24, the company generated a revenue of Rs 2763 crore. The income from selling goods and services is called revenue. Swiggy was listed on the stock market on November 13, since then its shares have increased by 14.18%.
