But he was very impressed with the growth of Telangana and has signed this deal with the government.
Lenskart was formed in 2010
Lenskart founder Piyush Bansal, along with his Kolkata friend Ameet Chaudhary, planned to create a company that could change the habit of Indians not wearing glasses in 2010. He found another co-founder Sumit Kapahi on LinkedIn. Sumit had left his job in an eyewear company a few months ago.
The three together created Value Technology in 2010, which had different e-commerce websites. It had Lenskart, Jewelkart, Bagkart and Watchkart websites. After some time, seeing the potential in the glasses market, the three started focusing only on Lenskart.
Automatic manufacturing unit
The company started the world’s first automatic manufacturing unit in Bhiwadi, Rajasthan. Currently, the company has manufacturing units in Delhi, Gurugram and Zhengzhou, China. The company is going to set up a new plant in Bengaluru at a cost of Rs 1600 crore. Production will start in it in the next 18 months.
