Bihar will become a manufacturing hub, 1,09,000 jobs will be created, this industrial city will be built with an investment of Rs 16,000 crore

In this, national and foreign companies have announced big investments in Bihar. Many companies have also started their work in Bihar with big investments. Now the Bihar government is going one step further and working to make the state a manufacturing hub. In this direction, the Bihar government has formed a special purpose unit Bihar Integrated Manufacturing City Gaya Ltd. (BIMCGL) to speed up the ambitious Integrated Manufacturing Cluster Project in Gaya. This project is expected to create about 1,09,000 jobs in Bihar and get an investment of Rs 16,000 crore. That is, in the coming days, Bihari youth will get jobs on a large scale within the state itself.

All these infrastructure related works will be done

The state government said on Wednesday that the formation of the unit on January 6, 2025 is an important step towards starting work on the project immediately and completing it rapidly. Infrastructure development is to be done on a large scale under this project. It includes 29.89 km of internal road network, modern power substation, advanced water supply and contaminated water purification system, integrated waste management facilities, skill development center, commercial space and administrative office. According to the statement, there is a special focus on strategic connectivity. The complex will benefit from its proximity to Gaya Junction, major national highways and the upcoming new Paharpur railway station. The location provides easy access to important logistics points including Haldia port and inland terminals at Gaighat (Patna) and Ramnagar (Varanasi).

An agreement was signed on November 12, 2024

The Bihar Industrial Area Development Authority (BIADA) and the National Industrial Corridor Development Program (NICDC) signed an agreement on November 12, 2024. The Bihar government’s Industries Department signed the State Assistance Agreement. The statement said that the Special Purpose Vehicle (SPV) has a shared operating model with a board of directors. It has equal representation of the state and central government. This board of directors consists of six directors. It has three representatives from the state government and three from the central government. The Managing Director of BIADA will serve as the Chief Executive Officer (CEO) and Managing Director of Bihar Integrated Manufacturing City Gaya Ltd.

Nitish Kumar’s emphasis on development

According to the official statement, Chief Minister Nitish Kumar has consistently prioritized industrial development as a key pillar of Bihar’s development strategy. His emphasis on skill development and infrastructure development, along with his commitment to creating a favorable business environment, has been instrumental in attracting investments to the state. With the land already in the possession of the state government and all the necessary approvals, the project is well positioned to accelerate Bihar’s industrial development and establish the state as a leading manufacturing hub in eastern India. Bihar Industries Minister Nitish Mishra said that this is an important opportunity for Bihar. The formation of BIMCGL reflects the government’s commitment to quickly realising the project’s potential.
