Mahindra will now expand its business abroad, know what is the company’s plan

After strengthening its position in the domestic market, Mahindra & Mahindra (M&M) is now looking at ways to expand its presence in international markets. A top company official gave this information. The Mumbai-based major automobile company is planning to expand its automobile business globally in a phased manner. The company plans to leverage its existing distribution channels in various foreign markets in the first phase. In a conversation with PTI-Bhasha, Rajesh Jejurikar, Executive Director and Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of Automotive and Agriculture Sector of Mahindra & Mahindra, said that new products like the lifestyle pickup truck under development and the new series of electric models will help the company enter new international markets.

Strong presence in many countries

He said the automaker already has a strong presence in countries like South Africa, Australia, New Zealand, Morocco and Chile with an established distribution network. “Many of these geographies were markets for us where we sold the Scorpio pick-up. Now these markets are enabling us to introduce models like the XUV700, Scorpio N and XUV3XO,” Jejurikar said.

What is the plan?

He said this is the first phase, which will include products in existing markets that the automaker has introduced in the last three or four years. He said the second phase will begin with a global lifestyle pick-up that will cater to both right-hand drive and left-hand drive markets. “This will open up new markets. For example, the ASEAN region is a big market where we have no presence at all today,” Jejurikar said. In 2023, M&M introduced the ‘Global Pick Up’ concept, which is expected to enter the production stage in 2027.
