Jio becomes the first operator to provide service in Siachen Glacier: Connectivity reached at an altitude of 16,000 feet in the Karakoram Range, mobile service reached the front post

Reliance Jio has started its 5G service in the world’s highest battlefield. The Indian Army’s ‘Fire and Fury Corps’ informed about this through a post on the social media platform X.

According to the army, Jio Telecom and the Indian Army together have successfully installed the first 5G mobile tower on the world’s highest battlefield Siachen Glacier. It has been installed at a front post in Siachen.

Jio is the first operator to provide service in Siachen Glacier

Jio has achieved a milestone by starting 4G and 5G services on Siachen Glacier just before Army Day on January 15. Jio has become the first operator in the country to start service on Siachen Glacier.

The Army described it as a great achievement and said – This indomitable achievement is dedicated to our brave soldiers who completed this challenge by being deployed in challenging conditions. Installing the tower at such a height was extremely difficult. The Army ensured the safety of the crew members along with logistics.

The temperature here reaches below -50°C

Jio used its indigenous full-stack 5G technology. Fire and Fury Signalers and Siachen Warriors, along with the Jio team, installed a 5G tower in the Northern Glacier. The temperature in this area falls below -50°C. Cold winds and snowstorms often occur here.
