Tata Motors preparing to manufacture Harrier EV soon, range of about 500 km
The electric version of Tata Motors’ Harrier, one of the big automobile companies, can be launched soon. The company has introduced the ready-to-manufacture version of Harrier EV. Its manufacturing can be started soon. This electric SUV was introduced at the Bharat Mobility Expo.
According to a media report, its design is similar to the Harrier with internal combustion engine (ICE). However, some special EV elements differentiate it from the petrol-powered Harrier. It has a closed-off grille with a new design for the bumper. Apart from this, there are LED DRLs with welcome and goodbye animations. This electric SUV has a new design of alloy wheels for better aerodynamics. Some changes have been made in its rear in the form of connected LED taillights. Its interior is almost similar to the petrol-powered Harrier. It has a 12.3-inch touchscreen infotainment system that supports wireless Android Auto and Apple CarPlay.
Harrier EV has a 10.3-inch instrument cluster, panoramic sunroof, ventilated front seats, 10-speaker JBL sound system. For safety, it has features like seven airbags, ABS with EBD, front and rear parking sensors, 360-degree camera, electronic parking brake with auto hold, electronic stability control and TPMS. This electric SUV is built on the company’s ‘Acti.ev’ platform. The company has said that it will have all-wheel drive capability. The range of Harrier EV can be around 500 km.
Sales of Tata Motors’ EV have declined in the current financial year. Along with this, the company’s market share in this market has also decreased. The big reason behind this is the competition from companies like MG Motor. In February, Tata Motors’ EV sales fell by about 23 percent year-on-year to 5,343 units. This financial year, the company’s EV sales in the country and international market have declined by about 12 percent to about 58,293 units. According to an estimate, Tata Motors’ share in this market has come down to about 56 percent. Tata Motors’ EV unit Tata.ev has manufactured more than two lakh units. Tata.ev’s portfolio includes Punch EV, Tiago EV Tigor EV and Curvv EV.
